Charmaine MUDAU THE VENDA PRINCESS

Charmaine MUDAU THE VENDA PRINCESS
Charmaine Mudau

It's our primary role celebrating and appreciating our stars while we still have them in our midst. Today we do so by bringing to you our very own multiaward winning actress , Charmaine Mudau. After all she was born on this day years back.

WHO IS SHE?

Charmaine Mudau is woman of Venda heritage born of MaKhumalo. She is a multi-award winning  Theatre, Film and TV actress recognized. She holds a Masters degree in Public Policy and Development Management. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Language and Communication  studies. She is very passionate about the development of the girl child, child rights and women issues. Above all; she is an aunt, sister and friend.

WHAT INSPIRED HER TO BE WHO SHE IS TODAY?

"I am where I am today as I was driven by the need to break the stereotypes within the creative industry and the society at large. The idea of confining women to certain spaces has always pushed me to break all those boundaries.  I have no problem with capable men in positions, I am against the stereotypes that come with capable women attempting to hold positions or venture into particular spaces. If a man can be a master of education, why can't I be educated? If he can be an actor or director; why can't I be an actress and director? So for me it has been about breaking boundaries and generational curses."

A CHRONICLE OF HER PROJECTS

" Of late (2021) I have done a short film titled 'Figure it out' by Nkosi Ncube for Multichoice Talent. It premiered on Showmax last month. I also had a great experience working with Keaitse Films and Mzoe 7 on his music video 'Mjolo the Pandemic'. It was great working with that hardworking and ambitious team.  This month I did a stage reading for the play 'Nothing is Everything' written by Tatenda Mutyambizi and directed Zaza Muchemwa. It  showcased at the Almasi African Playwrights Conference 2021."

HER BEST MOMENTS OF GLORY.

"I consider every performance special and glorious because I value my work. Everytime I walk into the stage; everytime I hear the words, 'rolling and action' it's always a glorious moment.

However if I'm to pick a few events; it would be the night I won the Outstanding Theatre Actress at the NAMA 2020 Awards. In anyone's career, being recognized and crowned as best actress nationally is amazing. That same night I was nominated twice for best Theatre Actress and Best Film & TV actress becoming the first person to be nominated for Outstanding Actress in both Film and Theatre in the history of NAMA." Talk about history making and breaking boundaries.

" Eight months later I was nominated Outstanding Theatre Actress and  Outstanding Film & TV actress in the Bulawayo Arts Awards 2020.  I walked away with the Outstanding Film and TV actress award.
In between these awards I graduated with a Masters degree in Public Policy and Development Management. It was a brilliant moment too as it gave me the option to venture into a different career path."

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT CHARMAINE MUDAU.

" I never forget anyone that helps and supports me.
I pray for them as well as those who unknowingly support me.

I'm generally a family person who values family as they are God's gift to me. I can cancel anything on my schedule for family events. I never miss any.
There's nothing like a strictly business trip. I always find ways to turn it into a vacation because I'm adventurous.
I'm very talkative if I'm comfortable."

IF SHE WERE TO RUN THE WORLD.......

"I would change human relations. Our world is so much determined by  relations. How we relate with each other has an impact in all aspects of our lives such as business, mental health, success and failure as well as development. Therefore kindness is what I would encourage. We need it above all things. Each one of us is fighting battles we can't share with anyone. My weakness is someone's strength and vice versa. There is nothing like equal success. Imagine what a force we will be if we collaborate"

WHAT YOUR SECRET RECIPE FOR SUCCESS.

"I haven't reached where I want to go. I'm still growing. I learn from each experience. Every success is a motivation for more success. Each failure is a lesson towards success. I talk to God about each and every thing I do.  I celebrate every breakthrough nomatter how small it is.  Prayer, discipline and patience are the order of my day."

ASPIRATION FOR THE FUTURE

" God willing expect more work and venturing into other creative spaces apart from acting. I will venture into businesses too. However I will never stop acting."
