TAKE IT IZZY

A new crop of musicians and various genres, influenced by local and international sounds have risen, with Afro pop and Afro trap gaining momentum in the last couple years.

A fresh voice has emerged, a versatile artist who can juggle in between the afore mentioned music genres.

Izzy born Ian Mhlanga  on the 5th of October 1999 is a rising new voice destined for greater heights in the unforgiving and relentlessly evolving world of entertainment.He featured in various projects including Inkatha Qreative Arts' Afro pop single titled "Our stories" which is an awareness song agaisnt social ills and gender based violence. Izzy  released a couple of singles that have been doing well on music digital platforms,promises his first studio Album this year.

Inspite of starting the year under lockdown with music recording studios one of the restricted under the new lockdown regulations, Izzy remains unfazed and guarantees a productive musical year ahead.

Music is inherent, i started singing at a very tender age, i had no exposure to any musical instrument growing up and i will beat boxes and compose song which were never put on paper, i just memorized everything as i didn't know what a recording studio door looked like at the time, i was not yet exposed to all that, it was a hobby for me back then" said Izzy.

Izzy is a first year student at the National University of Science and Technology majoring in Publishing Media Studies and he told Ekasi Magazine that it is very challenging to juggle between School and music as it both demands a lot of his time but he is still learning the ropes on balancing between his school work and passion.

Why Izzy?

"Izzy is a nickname derived from my real name Ian but it's also reflection of my character, i am a chilled and laid back person and I do my things with ease including music, i want people to take a moment from their troubles the world may present to them and take it Izzy with my music" he said
