THE RISE OF WELLE SA
Welle SA

Hailing from one of Bulawayo's oldest suburbs Old Magwegwe ,Welle SA (real name Wellington Phiri) is a firebrand Vocalist. His Amapiano hit single Maboneng has become one of the lockdown's surprise revelations in the world of Amapiano. The single which features Lusha and DJ Witty has propelled him to establish his base down South and become a force to reckon with;with major record labels lining up for the Bulawayo born Vocalist.

Welle SA has also made his mark as a resident perfomer at one of South Africa's opulant clubs and leisure centers, Jojo roof top, a very popular joint with the night life fanatics of the City of Gold, Johannesburg. The night joint hosts established South African fire brands like Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Mtee, Kebza De Small amongst a host of South African acts cutting across all genres.
"I am truly blessed and grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me, especially by the management at Jojo roof top, who have really helped me grow in the sector as they provide the platform for me to showcase my talents to multitudes of people who throng the roof top on daily basis" he said.

His hit single Maboneng was an internet sensation during lockdown with fans posting their videos dancing to the song. The track has enjoyed air play down south and back home on prominent radio stations like Skyz Metro FM and Ukhozi FM.

“I represent Magwegwe (OLD), this is the place I grew up in, a place where all my dreams and aspirations were crafted, looking back from the time I started doing music, it means a lot to have  made it this far in this industry and looking at the place I come from which often times is not known for great things but I have always told myself ngizophakamisa iflag yase kasi lami” Welle added.

Like many great Artists who came before him Welle SA told Ekasi Magazine that his musical journey started in Church.
He was playing drums at church as a 16 year old.

"I remember before that I did my own drum set at home using plastic buckets and other makeshift materials. I then learnt keys along the way before joining one of the best Gospel groups in bulawayo Creme Voices. I then moved down South to pursue my dreams" said Welle.

He has unreleased songs with Bizizi and Kaygee the kokota piano hit makers;we have our fingers crossed for this one as it promises to be a banger like Maboneng.

Welle SA advised the young and upcoming artists  to never quit no matter how hard the going gets;he urged them to be tough and always keep their heads above water.
