THE VISION IS CLEAR

THE VISION IS CLEAR
Nodumo Nyathi’s debut Novel

A life well lived is worth putting down on paper. One never knows where a book will end up, and who it was really meant for. In the harsh environments many find themselves in, Nodumo Nyathi’s literary debut is a beacon illuminating nights and tunnels.

The story begins in UMzingwane District; famous for the school that moulded many luminaries, not least Babongile Skhonjwa, Mthuli Ncube, Philani A. Nyoni and many more. It is also a gold panning hotspot, with Habane Township at its centre, a place that was once an HIV hotspot, with a higher infection rate that any other place in the country. Nodumo hails hence, tracing his dusty upbringing in the mountainous terrain of a village named Diana’s Pool. To many townsfolk, the prospect of a child walking 20 kilometres to and fro school like the author did while trying to earn an education at Tshalimbe Primary School is unthinkable, yet this was daily reality for the author and many more children in rural communities. Through many similar and other hardships, the author found inspiration where some would have lost hope.

His story is one of resilience, of inspiration from reality, encouragement from family, friends and elders and the naked will to succeed. His story is the triumph of a mother’s love, a somewhat fairy-tale romance between himself and his wife Florence. It is a tale of determination, highlighting the importance of planning, sticking to the plan, hunting destiny and never settling for less. It is an elaborate narration of vision, sacrifice and resilience, and turning setbacks into opportunity. The reader will laugh, weep, empathise and learn; mostly, how to succeed and confidently say, “The Vision Is Clear”
